Ann Sheridan leads corporate communications for Compass Group USA, the largest contract food and support services company with annual revenues of $23 billion. In this role, Ann oversees the company’s internal and external communication strategy which includes employee engagement, public relations, and executive support. In addition, Ann also supports the corporate giving strategy and is a liaison to the global communications team at Compass Group.
Prior to this role, Ann spent the first part of her career with Compass Group as the Director of Communications for Canteen, the largest unattended retail foodservice company in the country with the largest footprint of vending machines and micro market platforms. By humanizing communications, Ann and her team helped significantly improve employee engagement for Canteen’s 10K associates and externally position the company to increase brand awareness amongst clients and consumers A former broadcast journalist with Cox Media Group for more than 20 years, Ann believes that effective communication must inform, engage and entertain. In her career as a reporter in Charlotte, Ann won numerous awards including several Emmy Awards for telling her own story about her personal battle with breast cancer. Her reporting led to the creation of Ann’s Fund at Atrium Health which provided money to women who could not afford mammograms.
Ann is a graduate of American University and has resided in Charlotte since 1994 with her husband Steve. They have three grown children; Maria (Duke ‘18), Julia (NC State ‘21) and Jake (Duke ‘21). She enjoys running on Charlotte’s beautiful greenways, attending sporting and arts events in the Queen City and visiting all the new restaurants that are transforming the city’s culinary scene.

Trudy has supported FLIK’s company culture and engagement through innovative systems and programs. Trudy collaborates with communities, business partners, and Compass Group, NA to drive diversity, equity and inclusion goals aligned with FLIK’s mission. She is a dedicated mother, sister, and wife, passionate about storytelling, and is a lover of the written word. Chef Simone Byron CEO and Founder, Navigate Foundation
Chef Simone Byron
Chef Simone Byron is a culinary educator, entrepreneur, and founder of the Navigate Foundation, a national nonprofit with an ACF-approved curriculum that equips youth with skills in culinary arts, financial literacy, and professionalism. Inspired by her great-grandfather, a pioneering African American chef in The Bronx, and deeply influenced by her late mother, an award-winning educator, and her father, a leader in minority advancement in Ivy League spaces, Chef Byron’s work blends legacy with innovation.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, she studied culinary arts in Italy and Switzerland and rose through the ranks at Disney and Compass Group, where she became Eurest Dining’s youngest Chef Manager of the Year. Today, Navigate operates in Atlanta, Charlotte, Union City (NJ), and Chicago, serving over 400 students.
She is also the founder of Byron Hospitality, a professional development consultancy, and Dishful Thinking, a boutique catering company. Through her ventures, Chef Byron is creating access, elevating underrepresented voices, and building the future of hospitality.

Monica Gutierrez-Patino began her journey as a Navigate Intern during her senior year at Meadowcreek High School. She later joined the Coca-Cola Headquarters as a Cashier/Barista, gaining valuable experience. Monica went on to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Sciences from Georgia State University, graduating summa cum laude and debt-free, thanks to the Zell Miller Scholarship.

Angela Ruilova
Angela brings extensive experience in HR and Talent. From on-site hotel operations to master planned property management to entertainment, retail, manufacturing, consulting and behavioral health. In HR Leadership and Talent Leadership roles she has thrived on seeing professionals navigate their environment and their careers while building systems and tools that support their development.
In her nearly 25-year career, she has honed in on the people side of the hospitality business. People development is a key priority for Angela and she understands that being results-oriented and caring about people are not mutually exclusive. She seeks input from others and uses a broad range of channels to solicit it from all relevant stakeholders. It is her practice to distill a variety of different perspectives into a shared problem statement that helps everyone feel invested in solution-driven collaboration. Her approach will continue to drive our strategy of creating an enterprise framework that supports sector solutions.
Angela lives in Charlotte with her husband and two kids. They love to hang out with the neighbors, plan adventures and drive each other crazy.
Tracy joined Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services as Regional Vice President in 2019, overseeing the New England Region with 30 years of retail experience.
Tracy has held leadership positions within market franchises such as Dunkin’ Brands and Planet Fitness. With her experience, she focuses on building brand equity with transparency, integrity, and tenacity. She excels in relationship building and financial stewardship that consistently drives margin growth through revenue generation.

Imani Atkinson is the Senior Director of Client Services for the Amazon Fulfillment Center Client Team at Canteen One. With nearly 12 years at Compass Group, Imani's career has spanned marketing, communications, recruitment, and client services. She joined Canteen One from TouchPoint in 2023 and has also worked at Morrison Living during her tenure at Compass.
In her current role, Imani leads the Amazon Fulfillment Center National Client Team, overseeing the client relationship, new site openings, and strategic initiatives. She manages an exceptional team dedicated to enhancing the service experience and partners closely with operations teams to deliver an elevated breakroom experience for Amazon associates nationwide.
Imani is passionate about building strong teams—but more importantly, about creating an environment where individuals can truly thrive. During her time at TouchPoint, she spent over five years leading the Diversity and Inclusion Action Council, underscoring her commitment to fostering cultures rooted in collaboration, belonging, and purpose.

Val Emery is Division President for K-12 at SSC Services for Education, where he oversees operations across a wide range of school districts. With over 20 years in facilities management, Val is known for rolling up his sleeves and tackling the unique challenges that schools face every day. He’s passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces that help students and teachers thrive. Val got his start in 1996 managing transportation and housekeeping at a casino in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He joined Compass Group in 2003, initially with Crothall Healthcare, where he led support services for major hospitals across the Midwest. In 2014, he brought his leadership style, rooted in problem-solving and accountability, to SSC. Outside of work, Val enjoys time with his family, good food, live music, and golf.

Boma Anyaogu
Boma Anyaogu is Vice President of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) at Compass One at Amazon, and part of the Central Leadership Team (CLT). In this role she provides strategic leadership and partnership to implement an enterprise strategy focused on inclusion, supplier diversity and social impact strategy across all areas of the business for Compass One at Amazon. Boma is passionate about working with organizations to create opportunities and access for underrepresented communities; and finding ways to innovate on the employee and customer experience.
Prior to joining Compass Group, Boma worked at Amazon leading strategic initiatives and global programs focused on driving inclusive experiences and optimized processes for employees and candidates through the use of technology and innovation. Along her professional journey, she has held leadership roles in change management, talent management, and organizational effectiveness for global companies in various industries including tech, hospitality, beauty and manufacturing.
A native from Queens, NY, Boma holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She resides in the Washington D.C. area with her husband and kids, and loves spending time with family and friends. She is a self-proclaimed foodie, and enjoys experiencing different cultures and finding inspiration through travel.

For more than 25 years, Ed Mugnani has used a collaborative leadership style throughout his career in off-premise catering, retail operations, fast casual and fine dining restaurants. Currently he is the COO at Krafted Kitchen Collection and the Western Division President at Eurest. Fluent in Spanish, he oversees a diverse range of business and industry dining operations, ranging from startups, financial institutions, technology, utilities, manufacturing, insurance, and retail operations.
Encouraging a mindset of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, Ed fosters business evolution through shared camaraderie, recognizing that good ideas are generated from the entire team. A career in hospitality has reinforced that people come first, egos are checked at the door, and success is achieved by anticipating and taking care of the needs of clients, guests and team members.
Always hungry to learn, Ed received an A.S. in Hotel/Food & Beverage Management from Johnson & Wales University, and a B.S. in Hospitality Management from Florida International University. He serves on the Dean's Advisory Council for both the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism at Florida International University and the Society for Foodservice Management Board, believing that growing the next generation of foodservice leaders is an invaluable investment of time.
In addition to his love for food, running, and cycling, Ed cherishes his family time and travel. Ed’s wife, Cindy, is an artist, and they have two wonderful children – George is a Manager for Red Bull, and Rose is pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Calvin Neal is a team builder, who is devoted to the success of TouchPoint Support Services’ culinary people and programs. As the company’s Senior Vice President for Culinary and Retail, Calvin is responsible for patient dining, retail cafes and sourcing.
Calvin first entered the world of food and beverage as a dishwasher at age 16. After gigs in some notable hotels and restaurants, Calvin first joined Morrison Healthcare as an assistant manager. Now celebrating more than 30 years with Compass Group, he’s served in every imaginable role in an award-winning rise to his current position. His development of new dining concepts, training and creative motivation programs have won awards and emulation across Compass, as well as industry recognition.
Calvin is known to be a leader who always has a plan, along with a penchant for bringing out the best in his teams. He is devoted to their career advancement and has been a strong proponent of groups such as Women in Culinary and the International Corporate Chefs Association. He’s also leveraged the energy of the business to address food insecurity, with initiatives that deliver meals to underserved populations and Good Spread’s fortified peanut butter to malnourished children. Both programs have influenced kitchens across the country to be mindful of their ability to support the community in new, high-impact ways.
In his spare time, Calvin likes to dabble in construction. Now that their four children have graduated from college, Calvin and his wife Katrina enjoy spending more time outdoors and boating near their home in Nashville.

Her career spans communications, marketing, book and magazine publishing, and the business of memory-keeping across both nonprofit and corporate sectors.
Since joining Compass in 2022, she has brought compassion, inclusivity, and belonging to the forefront of her work. Her ability to make others feel welcomed and valued underpins her commitment to amplifying stories across the organization and the communities we serve. She leads internal communications strategy, brand management, and social media for the DEI team. Her work supports heritage & history celebrations and signature initiatives such as the Be the Difference Conference,Women in Culinary,Inclusion & Impact Month, the Health Is Wealth Series, and Ally Circles.
A lifelong volunteer and advocate for education and human rights, she currently serves on the Compass Group Human Rights Working Group. The Be the Difference conference is open to all associates (with manager approval), Empowerment Resource Groups, allies, sponsors, and leaders from Compass Group and its family of companies. Everyone must register to attend!
The annual Be the Difference Conference is organized by the Compass Group North America Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team and focuses on the transformative power of inclusion and belonging. It features one 40-minute keynote conversation and three 30-minute panel discussions with associates and leaders from across the business. This year continues a hybrid format—virtual participation and a limited-capacity in-person option including live session viewing, a volunteer activity, and a reception at the Compass Group CoLab in Charlotte, NC.
There are two ways to attend the Be the Difference conference this year:
Virtually: Live stream via the internet. No software installation is needed—just an internet connection. A confirmation email with access details will be sent after registration.
In-person: Limited seats are available at the Compass Group CoLab in Charlotte, NC. Registration includes optional sign-ups for a volunteer activity and a post-conference reception.
Use the email address and password you created during registration. Additional details will be included in the Attendee Manual emailed to registrants before the event.
Yes, the keynote conversation and panel discussions will be recorded and available for 30 days after the event on the vFairs platform. You must be registered to access the recordings.

Palmer Brown is Chief Executive Officer for Compass Group North America and a member of the executive board of Compass Group PLC. Palmer began his journey with Compass Group North America more than 20 years ago. In the time since, he’s served in a variety of leadership roles across our finance, strategy and legal departments. Ann Sheridan leads corporate communications for Compass Group USA, the largest contract food and support services company with annual revenues of $23 billion. In this role, Ann oversees the company’s internal and external communication strategy which includes employee engagement, public relations, and executive support. In addition, Ann also supports the corporate giving strategy and is a liaison to the global communications team at Compass Group.
Prior to this role, Ann spent the first part of her career with Compass Group as the Director of Communications for Canteen, the largest unattended retail foodservice company in the country with the largest footprint of vending machines and micro market platforms. By humanizing communications, Ann and her team helped significantly improve employee engagement for Canteen’s 10K associates and externally position the company to increase brand awareness amongst clients and consumers A former broadcast journalist with Cox Media Group for more than 20 years, Ann believes that effective communication must inform, engage and entertain. In her career as a reporter in Charlotte, Ann won numerous awards including several Emmy Awards for telling her own story about her personal battle with breast cancer. Her reporting led to the creation of Ann’s Fund at Atrium Health which provided money to women who could not afford mammograms.
Ann is a graduate of American University and has resided in Charlotte since 1994 with her husband Steve. They have three grown children; Maria (Duke ‘18), Julia (NC State ‘21) and Jake (Duke ‘21). She enjoys running on Charlotte’s beautiful greenways, attending sporting and arts events in the Queen City and visiting all the new restaurants that are transforming the city’s culinary scene.
Natacha Jacque is Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) for Compass Group North America. She continually focuses on DEI initiatives to positively impact change in organizations and communities. Throughout her 20-year career, she’s held various roles in Human Resources, providing support in the areas of leadership development, employee engagement and total rewards. She is an advocate of Diversity and Inclusion Action Councils (DIACs) and a true collaborator with business leaders. Saiph DiRosa joined FLIK Hospitality Group in 2018 as Director of Dining Services with a focus in high-touch law firms. In 2020, she fostered a partnership between FLIK & Emma’s Torch, a vocational training program assisting asylees, refugees and victims of human trafficking with the skills they need for entry-level roles in the culinary industry. Together, we have been able to place more than 30 associates in permanent front and back-of-house roles. Later that year, she joined FLIK’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Council (DIAC) as a team lead for various projects.
In 2022, Saiph became the DIAC co-chair with a focus on amplifying the voices of associates through Conversations For Change, a live panel featuring salaried and front-line associates with a focus on creating awareness, perspective and action.
As we move into the future, Saiph hopes to continue to foster a safe space where associates can feel like they truly belong in the workplace and have access to resources in the language they most identify with.

Gefen spent over thirteen years at Unilever, where she led a team of chefs charged with innovation development, product rejuvenation, consumer activations, and deployment of global projects. A graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, Gefen has been a part of prominent restaurants like Daniel, Mul-Yam, Danal, and Orna & Ella. In addition, Gefen is an accredited contributor to Art & Cook, was an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan, has held a TED Talk, and competed on the acclaimed Food Network’s “Chopped.”

Chef Jennifer Cox has a 30-year career in foodservice and hospitality, with a multilayered focus on all business types: restaurants, hotels, sports and entertainment and large-scale events.
Chef Cox began her time with Levy Restaurants in 1998 as the Executive Chef of Montage in San Francisco and played an instrumental role in developing the culinary vision and running the operation of this new Levy venture. The restaurant received critical acclaim and she was invited to cook as a guest chef at the James Beard House in New York.
Chef Cox left Montage in 2001 to continue her path in the culinary landscape with a variety of roles: Chef de Cuisine at Citizen Cake working with Celebrity Chef Elizabeth Falkner; Concept Development Chef for Compass Group; Director of Culinary for Joie de Vivre Hotels.
In 2011, Jennifer returned to Levy as the Vice President of Culinary, developing a culinary vision blending strategy and creativity, bringing the right balance of standardization and customization, and capitalizing on Levy's restaurateur heritage, applying it to the broad range of Sports and Entertainment operations.
Currently, Chef Cox leads the culinary vision for Levy as the Vice President of Culinary-Central Division. For ten years, she was the Executive Chef and Director of Hospitality in the President’s Suite at the US Open Tennis Championship and currently she serves on the Compass Global Culinary Council.
Over the past 12 years Chef Jeffrey Quasha has led the charge of changing the perception of healthcare food service and removing the stigma of the hospital food by creating “great food first!” Chef Quasha and his team have developed over 80 pop up food hall concepts, 16 fast casual restaurants and QSR’s, developed and launched virtual and ghost kitchens in over 1,000 hospitals across the United States. Under the direction of Chef Quasha Morrison Healthcare has become a leader in the Healthcare retail industry and a driver of retail innovation, culinary trends and product development. In 2023 Chef Quasha and his team were tasked with reinventing patient feeding and elevating the perception of healthcare food service. Chef Quasha team is currently piloting new patient restaurant style menus, plant-based menus, new oncology and pediatric programs and recently launched patient monthly holiday promotions and LTO’s. Chef Quasha also leads MHC wellness and sustainability recipe and concept development programs, new concept construction and design, and is leading the charge to bring new on trend teaching kitchen programs to partner hospitals across the country. Jeffrey and his team have earned top honors from Food Management Magazine Best Concepts, Business Intelligence Group Global Sustainability Awards, and Flavor on the Menu. Chef Quasha is a member of the Compass Global Culinary Leadership Council and the head of the Compass Global Sustainability Council.

Nikita Sanders is Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) for Compass Group North America. She is a long-time community partner in education and urban neighborhood restoration. For more than 40 years, Chris Ivens Brown has championed memorable and sustainable food experiences while advocating for the development and elevation of chefs worldwide.
Since joining Compass Group in 1987, Chef Chris has supported a variety of international and national clients, developing industry-leading dining programs that exemplify quality, freshness and flavor and pioneering some of the company’s food waste reduction initiatives.
His career began in London after attending the prestigious Academy of Culinary Arts program at London’s Academie de Culinaire de France at the young age of sixteen.
In 1995, he moved to the United States to oversee Bank of America’s Executive Dining Room in Charlotte, NC. In 2002, Chris became Vice President of Culinary Development before he was promoted in 2018 to Chief Culinary Officer of Eurest, Compass Group’s largest foodservice sector serving the nation’s top brands and most notable employers within the Fortune 500.
In 2024, Chris was selected to serve as the first-ever culinary leader on Compass Group’s North American Officers Board, representing more than 200,000 chefs globally. He also holds a leadership role on Compass Group’s Global Culinary Forum supporting the company’s procurement efforts, one of three key initiatives including people and sustainability.
Chef Chris has been named as the 149th Distinguished Visiting Chef for Johnson & Wales, Providence and recognized as the 9th Distinguished Visiting Chef (DVC) at Johnson & Wales University. Chris has also had the honor and privilege of cooking for a myriad of celebrities and public figures including Queen Elizabeth, Phil Collins and Martha Stewart.
In addition to his many professional accolades, Chris donates his time and culinary talent to several fundraising events and charitable organizations, including the American Heart Association, St. Jude’s, Make-A-Wish Foundation and more.

From Poverty to President, Ashton’s career has spanned over 25 years and has seen him go from living in his car as a teenager and high school drop out to now, COO of Compass Group Canada where he runs a $800M business in the Healthcare, Senior Living, Remote, Offshore and Corrections industries.
Prior to his current role, Ashton moved to Chicago for a year and served as COO of Levy Sports and Entertainment, a subsidiary of his current organization, Compass Group North America. There, Ashton was responsible for orchestrating the post pandemic business, operations and re opening plans for over 250 locations in MLB, MiLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS, and other major entertainment locations including The Daytona 500, Indy 500, and the Kentucky Derby. His prior experiences in sports earlier in his career include roles in Three Superbowl’s, USTA US Open Tennis, and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Before taking on his role in Chicago, Ashton was President for the Education Group, Chartwells, within Compass Group Canada. While in that role, Ashton and his team developed the award-winning Thinking Ahead Giving Back (TAGB) purpose-led vision at Chartwells that took them from 3rd to 1st in the market. Through TAGB, Chartwells grew their business by over 25% in addition to delivering over 2 million meals to support global and domestic food security, providing over 17,000 hours of community support, and creating nearly 500 student jobs since launching the vision in late 2018.
On the belief of the importance and value that sports engagement leads to wellness and community bonding, TAGB in partnership with other organizations, supported a number of projects including the building of a basketball court for the local community in Togo, Africa, and a multi-sport facility in Haiti.
On a personal level, Ashton recognizes those who have contributed to his growth by dedicating time to volunteer and give back in various capacities. Currently, Ashton serves as an Advisory Board Member for Canadian Girls Baseball League. He also served as a Board Member for the Catholic Family Services Peel Dufferin, a local multi-service counselling agency and was a Strategic Partner for the Pinball Clemons Foundation, a non-profit group providing mentorship to youth facing inequity. Recognized for his leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in 2022 Ashton was awarded the Inclusive Leadership Award from the National Diversity Council of North America.
